Who We Are

Ron Bonjean

Ron is one of the most recognized and respected voices in national political and media circles.

For more than a decade he has been a key player in the national debate having served in leadership offices in the U.S. House and Senate as well as Department of Commerce.  Before leaving Capitol Hill to start The Bonjean Company, Ron was Chief of Staff to the Senate Republican Conference under Senator Jon Kyl.  Previously he was a top strategist and advisor for House Republicans as Director of Communications to the Speaker of the House.  He also served as press secretary to Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, where he played a critical role in helping Republicans defy history to retake the majority.

From these top leadership positions, Bonjean helped to coordinate the national legislative and messaging strategy among the congressional Republican conferences and the White House.

Bonjean also handled dozens of high profile public relations crises during his tenure including the historic presidential recount, September 11th, the Anthrax attack, Senator Lott’s comments regarding Strom Thurmond, Hurricane Katrina, Dubai Ports and the Congressional Page Scandal.

In addition, Bonjean was tapped to lead the public affairs team and was a senior advisor to both Secretary of Commerce Don Evans and his successor, Secretary Carlos Gutierrez. During his tenure, he was instrumental in crafting the communication strategies to promote open markets, free trade, intellectual property rights, jobs and economic growth.

Of note, Bonjean is the first person to serve as the lead spokesman in both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.  For the better part of a decade he was named to the Roll Call Newspaper's Fabulous Fifty as one of the top movers and shakers behind the scenes on Capitol Hill.  A frequent guest on many national news programs, Bonjean provides insightful political analysis to millions of viewers across the country.

He received his masters degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from the American University in 1999 and his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
